Katie is a certified Yoga and Pilates Instructor. After 11 years of studying ballet, She stumbled into a yoga class to get a stretch. She was instantly addicted and has been teaching since 2001. She has been a student of yoga for over 10 years now and is trained in Ashtanga and Vinyasa yoga, combining the two in her classes. She enjoys teaching challenging dynamic classes; bringing full attention to the breath, asanas, and concentration. After suffering an injury several years ago, she began incorporating Pilates into her rehabilitation as well as yoga and was amazed with the results. She became certified in Pilates in 2005 through the Physical Mind Institute to share her newfound love of Pilates with others, focusing on posture, body alignment, and muscle balance. She believes the stability and strength associated with Pilates is a perfect counterpart to yoga. She has seen the power of both practices helping people work through injuries, life challenges, and pain and feels that both can be life-changing in these ways. Katie also recently completed her Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Chapman University, has a B.S. in Kinesiology, and a background of working with people with injuries.
